Kathmandu Durbar Square:
The regal Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the three Durbar squares in Nepal and is the most remarkable legacy of Kathmandu's traditional architecture. The Durbar Square area is made up of three squares - A former elephant stable, Basantapur Square, the main Durbar Square on the west, and another part of Durbar Square that houses the entrance to Hanuman Dhoka.
While the southern part of the complex houses the open Basantapur Square area, the main Durbar Square area occupies the western portion. For many years, the former used to be stable, which housed royal elephants. Today, it is a site that houses souvenir stalls. In the northeast part of the complex runs the second part of the square. In this area, the entrance to the glorious Hanuman Dhoka Complex is planted, with a beautiful assortment of temples nestled behind it. The place is an active walkway that connects many streets together for the general public.
Swayambhunath Stupa:
Perched on top of Semgu Hill, located on the outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley, the Swayambhu Temple temple is one of the most important religious shrines in Nepal. The sanctum is one of the holiest sites among Buddhists and Tibetans. Once you are inside the temple, make sure to climb the 365 steps to reach the top and take in the picturesque, panoramic view of the capital city of Kathmandu.
With a white dome stupa and an array of shrines, this place draws people to it daily. Circumnavigating the temple in a clockwise direction is a common practice among the pilgrims since it is believed to wash away all sins. Also referred to as the Swayambhunath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and the Swayambhu Maha Chaitya, this holy place of worship has been in existence for several centuries and has overlooked the greater portion of the Kathmandu Valley ever since.

Patan Durbur Squire:
This UNESCO heritage site, located in the centre of Lalitpur is one of the most visited places in Nepal. The architecture and history can be seen in the temples, palaces and houses and best reflect the culture of this country. Located just a few kilometres from Kathmandu City, the Durbar Square Patan is one of the three main Durbar Squares in Kathmandu Valley and offers a perfect blend between ancient history and culture along with modern local street food.
The best time to visit Durbar Square Patan is from October to December in order to have the best outdoor experience. It is often overcrowded during the weekends so it is best to visit during the weekdays. Unfortunately, a lot of this area was destroyed during the 2015 earthquake, leading to it being seen as an unattractive place to visit.
Bhaleswar Mahadev Temple:
According to texts in Himvatakhanda, Baleshwar Mahadev appeared at the spot where Sati Devi’s ‘Bhala’ or the forehead fell off from her dead body. Hindu devotees believe that the Mahadev fulfills one wish of all who come to pay homage to him in the Chandragiri Hills. History states that it was from here that Prithvi Narayan Shah first saw Kathmandu and aspired to conquer it. It was with Baleshwar Mahadev’s blessing that Shah’s dream came true. Local folklore tells of farmers hiking to Baleshwar Mahadev during the driest season to receive thunderous downpour before they even got home.
