The Hornbill festival is organized supported by the ministry of tourism, arts, and lifestyle and shows diverse cultures below the roof. This festival, show, and competition is generally held in Kohima from December 1st to 10th once in 12 months.
The Hornbill festival is held inside the Naga heritage village in Kisama, about 12 kilometers away from Kohima. All tribes of Nagaland participate in this pageant. The motive of the pageant is to revive and preserve the wealthy arts and culture of Nagaland people and display its rare traditions.

Hornbill Festival Date Every Year Dates:

Morning we shall start our day by visiting some local market and World War II cemetery. We shall spend the rest of our day in Hornbill festival filled with songs and dances, and people in full festive mood with colourful attires. We shall also see shops where you can pick up souvenirs to take home for your dear ones. We then shall have lunch at the festival where you can taste local food. World War II cemetery:
The Kohima War Cemetery located in the center of Kohima city, is a memorial dedicated to soldiers of the 2nd British Division of the Allied Forces who died in the Second World War in April 1944 fighting the Japanese invasion. The soldiers died on the battleground of Garrison Hill in the tennis court area of the Deputy Commissioner’s residence. The cemetery is sited at the exact location where the battle was fought, and provides a panoramic view of Kohima. The cemetery is set in peaceful surroundings and is very well maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
At the lower part of the cemetery, a bronze plate carries an epitaph which reads:
“When you go home tell them of us and say for your tomorrow we gave our today”

Lunch at Hornbill festival. We shall be looking forward to see more fascinating and ethnic culture of the Nagas. We shall participate in the night carnival at Kohima where we shall see people selling different items from Christmas decorations to chicken barbecue. One of the most interesting aspects of the carnival is the whole street being filled and flooded with people taking their family and friends for fun and dinner.Overnight Kohima

This village has taken an odd step by declaring 27 sqkms of its territory as “Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary” (KNCTS). The menus are pre-set menus provided for breakfast/lunch/dinner on the tour as mentioned under each Tour itinerary and inclusions and exclusions as committed at the time of confirmation.
In standard/Budget category of hotels, the meals preferences are veg meals unless specified and in Deluxe/Super Deluxe and Luxury category of hotels/resort the meals are a mixture of veg and non-veg preferences.
Mostly buffet meals are served during the tour, but depending upon the less occupancy and group size Ala Carte meals may be served by the hotels. No claim can be made for the meal which guest has missed and not utilized.
📅 ITINERARY CHANGES:
For the comfort and convenience of guests, there could be some changes or amendments in the itinerary. We will try to advise you of these amendments prior to the start of the tour or on tour. In the event a guest misses any part of the sightseeing tour or any such tour due to delay on their part, they will not be entitled to claim a refund of the same.
The timings mentioned in the day schedule in the itinerary may vary depending upon the road conditions, particular destination visits en route, meals, climatic conditions, particular health conditions of the guests, and timings of sightseeing places and monuments.

The drivers of the vehicles are bound by specific rules like maximum driving hours within a day, rest period per day, etc. Clients will have to strictly adhere to the prescribed timetable for the day so that the driver can complete the travel. In case any of the sightseeing schedules are missed due to delays caused by the client, the same will not be refunded to the client under any circumstances.
